You don't have to buy CHAISKI to make your own chai.
I didn't create this site to purely sell CHAISKI. I also want to create a space to share thoughts, experiences and to help humanity in my own small way. And I'd love to hear from you too:)
First thing's first - you can easily create your own chai at home. The CHAISKI mix that I make and sell is the way that I like to enjoy masala chai, but there are so many ways to make it and you can add your own touch depending on your taste.
For example, some chai includes star anise and ginger, some love that extra 'tang' and spice to hit your senses. It's vibrant and lovely!
The CHAISKI mix is a bit more subtle, and here's how I make it:
Step 1) Gather your spices: fresh cinnamon sticks ( 3-4 whole), fennel seeds (3-4 hefty tablespoons full), cardamom pods (same amount as fennel seeds, 3-4 hefty tablespoons full) and a few black peppercorns (5-8 whole peppercorns) .
Step 2) Pour spices into a spice grinder or small grinder. Safely use your grinder and blend the spices - only a few seconds, you don't want it too smooth - grainy is best i.e. you can still see some shells of cardamom pods, fennel seeds and pieces of cinnamon.
You have your spice mix ready!
For black tea, if you have loose leaf black Assam tea - this is best, however, you can even use teabags like PG Tips and Twinings, as long as it's black tea (that you like).
You're ready to make your own chai. Step-by-step directions found here.
Stovetop directions:
Tea for 1 (double portions for 2, etc.)
You will need saucepan & tea strainer for best chai & easy clean-up.
Add 1/2 cup water to saucepan & 1 teaspoon of chaiski spice mix. Let water come to a boil.
Once boiling, add 1 heaping teaspoon of black tea & 1/2 cup milk OR plant-based alternative for vegan chai.
I like whole milk for full milky flavour, however oat milk or coconut milk also delicious to use (and I also use often! But it's just that I usually have milk in the fridge:)
Monitor & stir a few minutes. Once tea starts to rise & boil, turn the stove off.
Chai time!
Smell the spicy goodness.
Get your cup/s ready & pour, using a tea strainer to drain loose leaf spices & tea.
If you like, add honey (recommended) or sugar to sweeten.
